Things have been extremely busy at YouRenew.com headquarters. We just hired a bunch of new super qualified people to help us bring you the best possible service for selling back or recycling your old electronics.

What I want to talk about today, though, is our new $1,001 give-away to spread the word about the importance of recycling your e-waste. To be counted in the drawing, all you need to do is join the YouRenew Facebook Fan Page.

Here are the give-away rules:

As soon as there are 10,000 fans, we’ll give away $1,001 to one of those fans. Your odds are 1/10,000, which is many times better than any lottery. To select the winner, we give each person a number at the end of the contest. This number is determined by when you joined (i.e. Fan #735). We will publish this list of numbers and your name in an excel file. Then, on a live streaming video, we will randomly select a number from 1-10,000 and one of you will be the winner! (YouRenew.com recyclers and their family members will not be entered in the drawing).

To get to 10,000 fans, we’re going to need your help. Right now we have almost 1,000 fans. All we need to do to get to 10,000 is have everyone go to the YouRenew.com fan page and click the button “Suggest to Friends.” A window with pictures of your friends will appear. Just click on your friends and then they’ll be notified in their Facebook profiles that you suggested that they check out the fan page.

If everyone can get just 9 of their friends to join, we’ll easily surpass 10,000 and one of you will be the winner!

Remember that the point of this contest is to spread the word about the dangers of e-waste. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be publishing blog posts about e-waste and ways that we can all help clean up our environment and prevent electronics from reaching our landfills. But you have the real power to spread the word. Comment on our Facebook wall, follow us @YouRenew on Twitter. Most importantly, talk to your friends, your teachers, and family about e-waste.
